GLC - Indigo Lantern I by What-the-Gaff GLC - Indigo Lantern I by What-the-Gaff
"Seven Corps Will Rise,
Seven Corps Will Shine Their Light Brightly,
Seven Corps Will Be At War."

While Green represents willpower and Yellow represents fear, the Indigo Lanterns represent Compassion, and their mission is typified by the spreading of goodwill throughout the universe. To this end, each member is attired in a fashion which suggests a personal philosophy of poverty.

Gandhi was the first person that came to my mind when it came time to pick members, in particular their modest fashion statement.

I'd say that Martin Luther King. Jr and Teddy Roosevelt would be greens.

It just occurred to me that Jack Sparrow would make an excellent Orange Lantern. "Take what yeh can, give nothin' back!"

You know who else would make for a good recruit for the Indigo Corps? A possible defector from the Green Lanterns, Shilandra Thane: [link]

Possibly, or she might join Ganthet's new Blue Lantern Corps. They draw on the power of hope, and that seems to be what her story was about.

AWESOME! The Indigo lantern's attire reminds me of an old sage or something, and nice touch with the wizard like staff. Ghandi is definitely a good choice for an emisarry of compassion

Now here's a thought. When this war starts, no matter what side your on, you'll have to face the choice of killing. I say that because, more then likely, these indigo lanterns will face enemies that will kill them without second thought. So where do they stand on lethal force? If they wish to last they would have to kill. But that doesn't sound like goodwill in the slightest.

Perhaps the Indigo Lanterns will have a method for draining away an opponent's aggressivity, allowing them to pacify their foes.

I think you've got it right. In Ganthet's prophecy, the Indigo Lanterns were able to freeze attacking lanterns with a wave. I think they must have a method of defending themselves without actually resorting to violence of any sort.

The Indigo Lanterns will no doubt be at a disadvantage, unless they can find a way to disable an enemy color without killing them. In the splash page from GL #25, Indigos are shown stopping attacking lanterns with a gesture and carrying them through the battle. They won't result to physical violence, I think, even as the war reaches full swing, which may leave them at a disadvantage.

Maybe they'll be the doctors of the corps. You know they heal people regardless of Corps so no one attacks them.

Nah, Blue Lanterns are all about hope. a better choice for blue lanterns would be Luke Skywalker and Optimus Prime.

Yeah. The first version of this had him in the cloth diaper he's known for, but seeing as how he's a famous advocate for peace and tolerance, I figured the sage look was a more dignified look for him.
